Food Glorious Food!

The nutrition facts presented within this section of my web site have been written to help further knowledge and understanding in the area of healthy eating and to help dispel the myths and misinformation that is currently available.

We have a fundamental need to eat and drink, as it's the food and drink we consume which provides the building blocks for energy, supply factors for biochemical reactions within our body, and allow us to recover, survive and flourish.

However, the process is complicated some what by our highly individualised make up, differing activity levels, tolerances, circumstances and so forth.Do nutrition facts give you a headache?

When looking at your own nutritional program, it can seem like a minefield, and trying to piece together the nutrition jigsaw puzzle can be a real headache!

This is where the benefit of having an experienced and qualified professional by your side can be invaluable.

As the Total Fitness Personal Trainer I can advise you on healthy eating options, how to formulate balanced, healthy eating plans to achieve a wide variety of goals including dieting and endurance sports right through to body building.

So Lets Talk About Nutrition Facts!

Our food and drink is made up of mixtures of nutrients, in varying quantities, each serving a different purpose within our bodies.

There are two types of nutrient - Macro-nutrients and Micro nutrients.

Macro-nutrients are nutrients which form the greater part of our diet and principally include Carbohydrate, Protein, Fat and Water.

Micro-nutrients form a MUCH smaller part and include vitamins and minerals.
As with any aspect of total fitness, its important to retain BALANCE when ever possible.

This is especially so when it comes to the food and drink we consume.

It's easy to see examples of what an unbalanced diet can do to someone.

Simply look to those who suffer with obesity, heart disease, cancer, clogged arteries, poor liver health, high cholesterol and so on.

By following a sustained and long term un-balanced diet it can essentially Kill you! FACT.

It is often the case that a lack of education and understanding about nutrition can lead to life times of poor food choices and eating habits and hence impact health negatively.
