This section contains the best tips for losing weight to help dispel the myths that surround the diet industry and to bring to you tried and tested techniques that can deliver outstanding results.

I have personally written these articles focussing on the latest tips for losing weight and are based on over a decades worth of knowledge accrued by helping clients to reach their fat loss goals. I hope you find the following articles (listed below) informative and inspiring.

It is commonly reported that 95% of all diets fail, and that a large proportion of those 95% actually gain back all of the weight lost and then some. That’s a depressing thought isn’t it?

So what is it that the successful 5% do that all the others do not?

In my experience, the most successful dieters demonstrate the following traits:-

• Have a strong willingness to succeed no matter what.
• Set themselves targets with long and short term goals
• Remain flexible in their approach and make changes if something stops working.
• Exercise and include regular high intensity resistance training.
• Accept that successful weight loss takes time and effort.
• Stick to basic principles of fat loss and avoid gimmicks.
• Make healthy eating part of their lifestyle rather than a temporary fix.
• Educate themselves on the most effective tips for losing weight and incorporate them into every day living.

The truth is that everyone can demonstrate these traits; we can all choose to have a stronger will, or to learn more about fat loss techniques. We can also choose to go about losing weight the right way by becoming more active and avoiding short cuts. The information provided in my tips for weight loss articles will help you to make the right choices and ultimately lead you to success!

Tips for Losing Weight - The Basics

One of the best tips for weight loss relates to how we think about the weight loss process. Many will identify weight loss as being on a diet. I urge against using the word diet, as this word conjures up images of hunger, suffering and restriction which I am sure you will agree are not very positive images to hold onto.Top Tips for Losing Weight

When I help clients to lose weight, the first thing I do is suggest the term “Healthy Eating Program”. This term creates a much more positive mental image and sets the foundation for successful fat loss.

One of the key tips for weight loss is in understanding the importance of planning your weight loss program. Before jumping in feet first, sit down and plan out exactly how much weight you would like to lose and by when. Be realistic with this. For example, expecting to lose 10lbs within 2 weeks is unreasonable. A general guide is that you should aim to lose 1 to 2lbs weekly. This is a safe rate to lose weight and is more likely to result in the weight staying off in the long term. Remember that the top 5% understand that losing weight is not a quick fix.

Once the over all weight loss has been identified within a given time frame, I also recommend identifying key targets along the way. So for example, a goal of a 4lb weight loss could be set for week 2 of the program.

This process serves a very important purpose in that it starts to focus the mind on the task in hand.

Understand that our mind is the most valuable muscle we have. Once the minds power is recognised it can be used to drive us forward to success. When weight loss is the goal it helps to know when the end is in sight. In addition, the achievement of short term targets serves to bolster self belief and reaffirm that everything is happening as it should be. Conversely, if weight loss is not occurring, the short term targets act to highlight this which provides opportunity for self assessment and implementing new weight loss strategies.
